Reference check 이메일을 받으며...

최근 파트너사 매니저 분께 한통의 전화가 걸려왔다.

항상 밝은 웃음과 친절함이 뭇어 났던 그 이기에 반갑게 전화를 받았다.

그는 조금 머뭇거리더니 이내 차분하지만 조근조근 그의 상황을 이야기해주었다.

 

조심스럽지만 그는 이직을 준비하는 것 같았고,

이직하려는 업체에서 메일이 오면 잘 답변을 부탁한다는 내용이었다.

외국계 회사라서 면접 이전에, 이런 과정도 있나 보다 하고 의아하기도 했었다.

 

하기 처럼 메일을 받고 나니,,, 

나 혼자서도 그가 어떤 사람이었을까 하고 생각을 해본다.

그리고, 이내 그가 평소에도 밝고 마음이 따뜻한 청년이었다는 것을 상기했다.

짧고 서툴며 문법적으로 완벽하지 않은 영어 실력이지만, 그에 대해 느낀 대로 적어주고 싶었고 조금 이남아 그에게 도움이 되고 싶었다. 그런 맘을 알았던지 그 역시 매우 감사하다는 말을 남겨주었다.

그가 향후 그 회사에 이직이 될지는 아직 잘 모르겠다.

 

하지만, 사회생활에서 한 발자국씩 열심히 앞으로 나아가는 그 청년에게

용기와 더불어 박수를 보내고 싶은 마음은 나 역시 진심이다.
